Luna María was my beloved companion for 13 years. After a difficult final week of veterinary care, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye. I’m raising funds to help cover the financial burden of her final veterinary care, euthanasia and cremation.

📖 La storia completa

My name is Tamara, and I want to share the story of Luna María, my beloved companion for 13 years.

Luna was much more than a pet to me. She was part of my family and my everyday life for more than a decade. She was there through so many moments of my life, and caring for her was something I always did with all the love I could give her.

Some time ago, Luna suffered an accident that seriously affected her hips. She needed veterinary treatment and went through a long recovery process. Thankfully, she managed to overcome that difficult period, and we were fortunate to have more time together.

Recently, however, her health became complicated again.

During her final week, Luna needed veterinary care and treatment while we hoped she might improve. I did everything within my reach to help her, but this time it was not possible.

Eventually, I had to make the most painful decision a pet owner can face: letting her go peacefully rather than allowing her to continue suffering. After 13 years together, I had to say goodbye to Luna and arrange her cremation.

Along with the emotional pain of losing her, these final days brought significant expenses in a very short period of time. Her final veterinary care was approximately CLP $60,000, and her euthanasia and cremation cost approximately CLP $200,000.

These services had to be paid at the time they were provided, and I have documentation supporting these expenses. Having to cover everything at once, however, has left me with a financial burden that I am still trying to manage.

Luna also had substantial veterinary expenses during her previous accident and recovery. I am not expecting to recover everything I spent caring for her throughout her life. I share that part only because it is an important part of her story and helps explain the financial impact of caring for her over time.

This fundraiser is primarily intended to help me recover from the financial burden of Luna’s final veterinary care, euthanasia and cremation, as well as part of the veterinary expenses I am still carrying.

Any contribution, no matter the amount, would mean so much to me. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing Luna’s campaign can also make a huge difference.

Thank you for taking the time to read Luna María’s story, for remembering her with me, and for any support you can offer. 🤍
