I'm 18. My home isn't safe. My cat is being hurt too. I need help to get us out.
📖 La storia completa
My name is Lucía and I'm 18. I live in Uruguay with my family.
I don't even know where to start. Home isn't safe. It hasn't been for a long time. There's yelling every day. Sometimes it's about nothing, sometimes it's because someone just woke up angry. I've learned to stay quiet, to not make noise, to not exist too much. I never know what I'm going to find when I open the door.
Some days are okay. Some days are really bad. The bad days are the ones that stay with you. The ones where you can't sleep because you're scared of what might happen next. Where you feel like you can't breathe in your own house.
I told myself for years that I could handle it. That it wasn't that bad. But it wears you down. I'm tired. I'm so tired.
The only thing that keeps me going is my cat. He's the only good thing in that house. When I cry, he comes and sits on my chest and purrs like nothing else in the world matters. He makes me feel like I'm not completely alone.
And they hurt him.
When they're mad, they take it out on him. They hit him. They scream at him. They chase him around to scare him. He hides under my bed shaking and I can't do anything because if I try to stop it, it just gets worse. He doesn't understand why. He just knows he's scared.
I can't leave him. I won't. He's the reason I'm still here. If I go, he goes with me.
I need to get us out. Somewhere quiet. Somewhere we can finally relax and not be afraid.
What the money is for:
🏠 A place to live. Deposit and first month's rent. I found some small places that could work, nothing fancy, just safe.
🚗 Moving our stuff. I don't have much. Just clothes, his things, a few books. But I can't carry it all on foot.
🐾 A vet check for him. He's been through a lot and I want to make sure he's okay.
🛒 Food and basics for both of us while I figure things out.
Total goal: $1,980
I never thought I'd be doing this. I'm not good at asking for help. But I can't do this alone anymore.
Anything helps. Even sharing this means a lot. You never know who might see it.
Thank you for reading. For caring. It means more than I can say.
