📋 Acerca de este proyecto
On this International Yoga Day, I'm starting this fundraiser to raise the money to help me attend a Classic Hatha Yoga teacher training course in South India. It's yoga in its purest form, without any distortion, additions, or modifications.
📖 Historia completa
My name is Jean-Eudes dahissiho, I'm 23 years old, and I'm from benin. My dream was to become a professional actor for film productions, or at least a comedian on social media.
So I started by posting some short videos on YouTube and Facebook to see if it was really what I wanted to do (https://www.youtube.com/@Jean-EudesX/shorts). The results were very poor. But I had my confirmation. This was what I wanted.
One problem I encountered on set was stress.
I told myself that with time and daily practice, I would get used to it and it would become more natural and easier. But the more I planned shoots with people, the more stressed I became. The more I approached property owners to get permission to film, the more stressed I became. Even filming alone made me stressed. My hand would tremble for no reason; If it had just been minor tremors, it might have been manageable, but the shaking was so intense it was visible to everyone.
So I had to find a way to deal with it so I could move on. I hired a coach and scoured the internet. People have all sorts of tips that don't work, but they post them online for attention. My coach told me it was normal, that it's something that happens to everyone, that we live with it, and that I should clear my mind and stop having negative thoughts.
On social media, I came across a video of an elderly person who told me that the mind is structured in such a way that you can't subtract or divide thoughts, you can only add or multiply them. He says, "Wherever you go, people are constantly talking about stress management... It's something I just don't get. Why would you manage stress? In my understanding, we manage the things that are precious to us: our family, money, business, wealth—anything that's valuable to us, we manage that. Why would you want to manage stress?"
On his website, he claims he can reduce stress by 50%. That just confused me.
Everywhere else, when people bring up the subject, they explain how to reduce it by 100%, or they admit that it can't be reduced and that it's a normal emotion.
So I paid for his training to see what it was all about. It was my first foray into yoga.
I got hooked; it was pretty good, and I wanted more. He has also trained over five thousand Classic Hatha Yoga teachers all over the world, in more than a hundred different countries, to help those who want to deepen their practice. But none in my own country or in neighboring countries.
Very recently, at home, we were going through a very difficult time where all our savings were lost. But what I noticed was that during this period, I was the only one smiling, laughing, and being happy for no particular reason.
During this time, my favorite pastime became my yoga practice. Why not dedicate myself to it completely? My perspective had changed. If I just stay here waiting for teachers to be sent to us, I could wait my whole life without ever receiving one. Not being able to sit comfortably without support was starting to bother me, and there must be thousands of people waiting like me. Why not get certified so I can come and teach Classic Hatha Yoga?
