📖 Die vollständige Geschichte
Every Child Deserves a Clean and Safe School
Imagine arriving at school each morning only to be greeted by piles of plastic waste instead of clean playgrounds and fresh air. For thousands of children in Kati, Mali, this is not imagination, it is their daily reality.
Every year, an estimated 10 tons of plastic waste accumulate around primary schools. Much of this waste originates from imported plastic products and discarded materials that eventually find their way into local communities, overwhelming already limited waste management systems. The result is a growing environmental crisis that threatens children's health, education, and future.
Many schools are surrounded by illegal dumping sites where plastic bottles, bags, and packaging collect for months. During the dry season, this waste is often burned to reduce its volume, releasing toxic smoke into the air. Children breathe these harmful fumes every day as they learn, play, and dream about their future. Respiratory illnesses, skin irritations, and polluted surroundings have become an unfortunate part of school life.
No child should have to choose between getting an education and breathing clean air.
At Environmental Education for Youth Empowerment (EEYE), we believe that a healthy environment is essential for quality education. We are working directly with schools, students, teachers, and community members to tackle plastic pollution through clean-up campaigns, environmental education, recycling initiatives, and sustainable waste management solutions.
Our mission is about more than removing trash. We are empowering young people to become environmental leaders who understand the value of protecting their communities. By teaching practical recycling skills, promoting responsible waste disposal, and organizing community action days, we are building lasting solutions that extend beyond the classroom.
Your support can make this vision a reality.
Every donation helps us:
- Organize community and school clean-up campaigns.
- Provide waste collection bins and recycling materials.
- Deliver environmental education programs for students and teachers.
- Plant trees and create cleaner, greener school environments.
- Support youth-led environmental clubs that inspire long-term change.
