📋 À propos de ce projet

It took me 5.8 years to ask for help and I spent my savings, but now I am truly in need

📖 L'histoire complète

Hello, I am Brazilian, and I survived a severe case of COVID-19. I spent 60 days in a coma in the ICU, fighting for my life. During that time, I endured: 3 intubations; a tracheostomy; multiple hemodialysis sessions; blood transfusions; sepsis; and, months later, two episodes of pneumothorax. By the grace of God, I survived. But my life has never been the same. For the past five years, I have been living on disability benefits, receiving less than 1.5 times the minimum wage ( 1,621.00) per month. Before COVID, I was able to work and earn at least five times the minimum wage, supporting my family and living with dignity. Today, I live with permanent physical limitations: compromised lungs; reduced mobility; intense fatigue; difficulty standing or sitting for long periods; an inability to walk long distances; and serious problems with my left leg, which became cyanotic and partially immobile. Even simple daily activities have become difficult. I still have ongoing expenses for: medical tests; medication; mortgage payments; condo fees; electricity bills; food; and basic survival needs. In recent years, my only means of transportation has been a vehicle kindly lent to me by my brother-in-law. However, I need to return the car, and I do not have the financial means to replace it. The emotional impact of this journey has also been devastating, following years of fear and emotional exhaustion caused by my health condition. I turned 60 while facing this illness, financial hardship, and uncertainty regarding how to continue my treatment and maintain basic mobility. Despite all of this, I still have faith and the will to keep fighting. I am starting this fundraiser because I really need help to: continue my medical treatment—I have been on a waiting list for a year for two MRIs (upper abdomen and lumbar spine); maintain my home; pay for essential expenses; and secure basic transportation so I can continue living with dignity. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a real difference in my life. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this campaign. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. God bless you.
